You and I both have had some pretty hard days, maybe even some hard months. But every now and then we have ugly days - days where our sin gets the better of us. Where attitudes are terrible, words are harsh, and our action are selfish and devoid of love.
On days like those it is so easy for me to wallow in misery or want to hide because of guilt. This is when the cross of Christ becomes even more precious. The cross reminds me that Christ paid for those ugly days and purchased for me God's unwavering love. A love so steadfast and strong that it doesn't waver or flinch one bit when I mess up.
On that cross God turned his face away from Christ guaranteeing that he will never turn his face away from me.
How amazing that even on our ugliest day we can turn to God, weep over our sins and know that we are perfectly loved, eternally accepted and already forgiven.
Direct, control, suggest, this day,
All I design, or do, or say,
That all my powers, with all their might,
In Thy sole glory may unite.
