I love books. I could hang out in a bookstore for hours. I love to buy them and I love to read them. While the most important book to read and study is the Bible, we have also been blessed throughout history with godly and thoughtful Christians who have an exceptional understanding of the things of God. We should read them carefully and learn from them as they point us to the truths of Scripture.
Charles Spurgeon points out that in 2 Tim 4:13, Paul asks Timothy to bring him "the books." This from a man who wrote much of the New Testament, who saw and experienced things we never will, who was inspired by God. This man wanted his books.
Spurgeon also warns us that, "He who will not use the thoughts of other men’s brains proves he has no brains of his own."
So I have decided to make a list of books that are worth reading and books I don't want to forget. I will probably update these lists from time to time.
